The small “shop” in Bürglen is now well-known throughout the village: Some people stop by and hand those responsible a “banknote” to support the project, or toys or clothes are given away. One person even had the Eritrean employee’s bicycle repaired at his own expense.

Pick up and distribute groceries
Grocery is still being picked up from wholesalers and a free delivery of fresh eggs arrives every week. Over a hundred socially dependent people regularly benefit from this project and many volunteers are busy delivering the grocery bags to the people who really need that support.

Engagement and conversations
However, needy people often stop by the “shop” to help and make themselves useful – it is a good feeling not only to get something for free, but also to be able to do something for it. Because many of these people have experienced suffering in their lives and are looking for new contacts, people with whom they can talk, who will listen to them, give them advice and hope. This changes people and gives them back a piece of joie de vivre.

German lessons as a basis
The free German lessons, which take place once a week in the “shop”, are also well attended and are an important basis for many who are looking for work. You cultivate community, get to know each other and valuable relationships and friendships develop.

“Vegetable Car”
But one big wish still remains: a private vehicle with which to pick up the groceries and distribute them to those in need. Because the need is not getting any smaller and the project is growing from year to year. That is why we are always looking for new volunteers. Thank you for your support and for your prayers that God will bless this work and that we can continue to be of great help to our fellow human beings in everyday life.
